Smarter QA/QC: Reinvesting Engineering Time with Automated Checks and AI-Assisted Review

This session reviews the spectrum of approaches agencies are adopting—from structured, rule-based QA/QC and standardized checklists to automated quantity workflows and AI-assisted analysis of large plan sets. Some DOT training and workflows explicitly address automated quantities and the supporting tools required to generate consistent reports, reflecting a broader shift toward repeatable, data-based QA/QC.

We’ll discuss how these tools can reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and shorten feedback cycles—while keeping engineers in control of judgment calls.
