John Arias is the Traffic Management Center Supervisor for the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada's Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation (FAST), where he leads regional traffic operations, incident management, traveler information, and multi-agency coordination efforts across Southern Nevada. With more than 20 years of experience in transportation and public safety, John has built a career focused on improving mobility, safety, and emergency response through collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence. He works closely with local, state, and federal transportation agencies, emergency management organizations, public safety partners, and neighboring jurisdictions to strengthen regional preparedness and transportation system resilience. As leader of the FAST Traffic Management Center, John oversees transportation operations supporting one of the nation's most dynamic metropolitan regions. His experience includes coordinating regional responses to major incidents, special events, emergency situations, and cross-jurisdictional transportation challenges requiring seamless collaboration among transportation and public safety partners. At the 2026 WASHTO Conference, John will share perspectives on transportation resilience, emergency preparedness, and the partnerships necessary to support effective coordination across agencies, jurisdictions, and state lines.
