Since 2019, David Johnson has led the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) national programs for traffic incidents, planned special events, work zones, and road weather management. In this role, his team drives key innovation initiatives, including the Work Zone Data Exchange and Every Day Counts Connected Corridors, to deliver the real-time operational data decision-makers need across jurisdictional boundaries. Before joining FHWA, David spent 13 years at the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) managing the statewide commercial vehicle operations and winter operations programs. Most recently, he served on the FIFA World Cup White House Task Force, helping transportation agencies prepare for the historic event.
