Sharon Luce serves as Deputy Administrator and Chief of Staff for the Nevada Office of Emergency Management/Homeland Security, bringing more than 15 years of experience in homeland security, emergency management, hospitality, gaming, and state government. A native Nevadan, Luce began her emergency management career after more than a decade at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, where she held leadership roles in emergency management, EMT programs, security operations, and front desk management. Since joining NV OEM in 2021, she has advanced through key leadership positions and now oversees day-to-day agency operations, supports strategic direction from the Governor’s Office, and coordinates statewide federal and state homeland security and emergency management programs. Her crisis leadership experience includes multiple Emergency Operations Center activations, presidential visits, New Year’s celebrations, major conventions, the Clark County COVID-19 response, significant disaster operations, and service as Acting Administrator during the 2024 Davis Fire. Luce was also appointed by Governor Lombardo to the Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor’s Ad Hoc Public Safety Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management, graduating magna cum laude from SUNY Canton, and has completed advanced training through FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the Naval Postgraduate School’s Executive Leader Program. She is currently completing the National Disaster and Emergency Management University’s FEMA Vanguard Executive Crisis Leaders Fellowship as a member of Cohort 11.
