Collaboration Fuels Innovation - Keeping Utah Moving
Focusing on examples of partner collaboration that demonstrate UDOT's innovation and efficiency accomplishments. The message is that these accomplishments wouldn't happen without partnerships with cities, the private sector, and MPOs and economic development agencies. UDOT has a reputation for trying new things and pushing boundaries. But the department’s accomplishments are not achieved alone. It’s no coincidence that innovative practices such as Accelerated Bridge Construction and digital delivery have launched in Utah through the remarkable efforts of many partners. Bringing people together to develop solutions and make improvements reflects the culture of innovation at UDOT. We welcome and embrace our industry partners, pushing what is possible. Innovation doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and we recognize that we can’t do our best work while working alone. We can share examples of partner collaboration that resulted in significant innovation and efficiency gains. For example, our ambitious statewide Trails Network relies on community engagement with numerous cities and counties. This active transportation resource for our growing population will connect people from 208 communities with 2,600 miles of new paved trails. A win-win arrangement with a mineral extraction company that demonstrates an innovative approach for route realignment. Sharing how municipal planning organizations and economic development agencies are essential partners in preparing the state for advanced air mobility and airport electrification. These types of examples illustrate how collaboration provides the fuel that helps power our innovation, and innovation helps us keep Utah moving.
